An architecture studio on Södermalm
Fourteen people, five to seven houses a year, a founder on every project.

Two founders, one on every house

Elin Tollin
Founding partner, architect
Elin founded the studio with Johan in 2009, after years of drawing houses for other people’s offices. She leads the projects on Gotland and around Lake Mälaren and keeps the studio’s material library in order. Elin is the one who will ask how you spend a Sunday morning, and she will remember the answer when the kitchen is drawn.

Johan Norrsell
Founding partner, architect
Johan grew up spending summers in the Stockholm archipelago and still arrives at most sites by boat. He leads the houses on the islands and around Värmdö, and the work of the site team during construction. Johan reads a plot slowly. He walks it at different times of day before he draws a single line, and he expects you to come along.
What we hold to
01
Start with the site
Rock, water, trees and the path of the sun come before any idea of style. We draw the house the land suggests.
02
Fewer houses, done properly
We take on five to seven houses a year. That way a founder can lead each one and visit every site.
03
Discretion as a habit
We do not name our clients, publish addresses or show a house without consent. Photography is agreed in writing.
The people in the studio

Sara Lindqvist
Associate, architect
Sara works alongside Johan on the island and forest houses, from the first concept models to the permit application. She knows the building committees of the archipelago municipalities well.

Oskar Berg
Project architect
Oskar draws the construction details that hold a house together, from window junctions in larch to zinc edges. He worked on Fårö and Sandhamn and still visits both every summer.

Maja Holm
Interior architect
Maja shapes the rooms from the inside, with kitchens, joinery, light and the places where a house is touched every day. She worked on the Djurgården Townhouse and the Sigtuna Lake House.

Erik Sandell
Site and construction lead
Erik spent years as a builder before joining the studio. During construction he is on site every week, checks the work against the drawings and keeps the builders and the client in step.

Models, samples and site visits
We think with our hands. Every house is built first as a series of working models in birch plywood, which we take to the site and set down on the rock or the grass. Materials arrive as real samples, not as pictures, and stay on the studio table until you have touched them in daylight. Decisions made this way hold better on site.
Awards and publications
Work with us
We look for people who like drawing by hand as much as on screen and enjoy a day on site in the rain.
